The Cornerstone Exchange is a unique, multi-vendor dining area on the ground level; created for the campus and community to exchange ideas, exercise innovation, and experience local food and drinks. It is committed to featuring homegrown, Kentucky-based companies.


The purpose and goal of the Cornerstone Exchange was to create a landmark destination serving as the gateway to an emerging innovation district, further linking the University with the City of Lexington. In addition to the amenity-rich mixed-use space, the Cornerstone Exchange would provide the University with much-needed additional parking capacity on the Northside of campus, adding 900 new parking spaces.

Signet Real Estate Group was responsible for commercial leasing, construction hand-off through punch-list completion, and stabilized property operations. 


The Cornerstone Exchange is 23,000 square feet of mixed-use space which includes a technology-rich innovation space with a variety of programming designed to stimulate conversation and collaboration between students, faculty, and staff. 

The open-format space and use of technology maximize student success and create a sense of community, connecting the university and city. It supports solution-driven thinking and design, connects people with different passions, and provides new pathways for career growth in entrepreneurial fields.

Additionally, the Cornerstone Exchange houses a state-of-the-art gamers’ lounge with 50 PC gaming stations and a multi-use 100-seat theatre designed to host 6×6 esports tournaments. An iconic multi-story exterior media wall enhances the University’s smart-campus efforts and provides messaging important to the UK Campus and The Cornerstone.
